Wizard of Wor

Wizard of Wor … one of the earliest games to include a "voice" and it was this "voice" that is the draw, along with the kickass 2-player action and the ominous artwork of the Wizard. "Please Insert Coin" greets you during attract and "Hahahaha!" taunts you when you die along with a number of other saying. Sure, the vocals are hard to understand but that is the charm of the game.
Below are some comparison shots of Wizard of Wor depicting how the cab looked when I picked it up vs how it looks when it was sold to Grinker's Grand Palace. What's new: New paint, new "leather" style T-Molding, new side art (phoenixarcade.com), the broken K4600 monitor was replaced with a working K4900, the semi-working boardset was completed and works now, the player 1 joystick was fixed (one of the leafs was broke). The paint was matched to the silk screened artwork on the control panel. I masked not only the front silked artwork but also the CPO and painted the control panel black… amazingly, it came out pretty damn kickass!
The last photo shows how the game powered up when I first got it. It actually played blind…you could hear the sounds including all voices playing, but the graphics were all corrupt (except for the star field). It took 3 untested boardsets plus my semi-working boardset to put together a stack that worked. This set includes 7 individual boards.
